The Kealakehe Recycling and Transfer Station in Kailua-Kona will now offer assisted mechanical loading of mulch, according to the County of Hawaii.
The service will be offered Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. only, according to the county. There will be a loading fee of $5 to $18, depending on the size and type of vehicle.
Customers will be required to pay at the time of service and will be served on a first come basis while supplies of mulch are available. The only forms of payment currently accepted at this time is MasterCard and VISA debit/credit cards. No cash or checks will be accepted, according to the county.
Free mulch remains available for manual (no mechanized equipment allowed) self-loading at the Kealakehe site daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
